Nominees must be able to present a unique, competitive and potential business concept and/or strategy that are yet to be executed and/or successful.
Definition
This award is bestowed on non-listed SMEs which are headed or founded by women entrepreneurs.
Selection Criteria
Nominees must be at least 50% owned by women entrepreneurs or with the women entrepreneurs as primary decision makers.
Definition
This award is to highlight Malaysia’s best and brightest young entrepreneurs and to recognize their innovative spirit and business acumen. They take risks with their personal financial security and have exceptional drive and commitment. Often, they start with little more than an idea and grim determination to succeed.
Selection Criteria
The nominee must be a Malaysian age 40 and below. He or she must be a CEO or Managing Director and has been involved in the company’s daily management for a minimum of 3 years and owns majority controlling interest of the company.

Dato’ Liaw Choon Liang, Focus Point Holdings Berhad President / CEO. Dato’ is a registered optician with the Malaysian Optical Council. Dato’ brings with him invaluable industry experience having accumulated over 35 years of experience in the professional eye care industry. Dato’ has been instrumental in the growth and development of the Group and more importantly, has been the key driving force in the expansion of the operations of the Group chain of professional eye care centre business.
As the Group’s President/CEO, Dato’ overall management has contributed significantly to the success and growth of brand building and development, ownership and management as the key components in differentiating the group from competitors.
Besides, Dato’ was instrumental in building the “Focus Point” brand as the chain of professional eye care centres which eventually has become the largest operator in Malaysia today.
In 2002, Dato’ was awarded the Certificate of Merit for the Outstanding Young Malaysian Awards 2002 by the Junior Chamber, Malaysia.
In 2004, Dato’ was conferred D.N.S. by Yang Di Pertuan Besar Negeri Sembilan.
Subsequently, in 2005, Dato’ was conferred the title, D.P.T.J which carries the title, “Dato” by the DYMM Tuanku Ja’afar Ibni Al-Marhum Tuanku Abdul Rahman, Yang Di Pertuan Besar Negeri Sembilan on the occasion of His Royal Highness 83rd Birthday.
In 2010, was appointed Jaksa Pendamai for Negeri Sembilan by the Yang DiPertuan Besar Negeri Sembilan.
In 2009, Dato’ was also a finalist under the Best Franchise Entrepreneur Awards by the Malaysian Franchise Association. Subsequently, at the Malaysian Retailers-Chain Association (MRCA) – 8TV Entrepreneur Award, Dato’ Liaw was given in recognition of outstanding entrepreneurship in 2009.

Dato’ Ng Wan Peng is the President of Big Bad Wolf Ventures, an international reading advocate providing public access to brand-new affordable books via mega book fairs and retail chain stores. She is an Independent Non-Executive Director for a few companies, namely Hong Leong Assurance Bhd, Securemetric Bhd, F&N Holdings Bhd, IRIS Corp, Digital Penang and Nano Malaysia. She is a member of Board of Advisors, Fintech Association of Malaysia, advisor to ACCIM, and a council member of SIDEC.
Dato’ Ng was Chief Operating Office of Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation, championing the country’s digital economy, from 2009 until December 2020. She is a competent leader and highly motivated professional with more than 30 successful years in the corporate and public environment. Her areas of expertise are in strategy planning, digitalisation , business transformation, Organisation Development, Process Improvement and innovation management. She graduated from USM and is an HBS Alumni.

Mr Ding Hong Sing is the National President of the SME Association of Malaysia and SME Mobile Truck Association. He is the Immediate Past President and advisor of SME Association of Hulu Langat Malaysia.
Mr Ding Hong Sing is Malaysian-born with cultural roots in the Fu Zhou region of China and is the founder and managing director of PA Food Sdn bhd, H.S Ding Properties Sdn Bhd and Dings Holdings Sdn Bhd. PA Food is one of Malaysia’s leading, family-owned frozen food suppliers and manufacturers specialising in Asian flatbread, steamed buns, Asian pastry snacks, sauces and cooking pastes. With over 40 years of experience in the food service industry, it was Mr Ding’s first inspiration to create Malaysia’s first Halal steamed bun, which began PA Food’s journey to bring the taste of authentic Malaysia to the world. PA Food supplies to a variety of industries and markets around the world, delivering premium quality shelf-stabled frozen food to enterprising food industry professionals and quality-conscious consumers. In addition, Mr Ding provides an influential and prominent voice in the Malaysian food industry, working with and advising small to medium-sized businesses to realise their potential.
Mr Ding holds the panel position in MIDF SME Facilitation Panel (MSFP), Pasukan Petugas Khas Pemudahcara Perniagaan (PEMUDAH) , Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives (MEDAC), Kementerian Sains, Teknologi & Inovasi (MOSTI), Lembaga Pelabuhan Kelang ((LPK) and Kementerian Alam Sekitar Dan Air (KASA). With more than 30 years in the ICT Industry, CS Chin has vast experience in the Information Technology, Telecommunications and Venture investment industry in Malaysia, China, Japan, Taiwan and South East Asia. In addition to working with many local businesses, CS has experience working with major corporations like IBM, Telekom Malaysia, Gozzo Rosso Japan. CS was the independent Director of M-Mode Bhd, listed company in KLSE since 2009 till 2012 and Non-Executive Director of Galasys PLC, Listed Company in AIMS London from 2014 till 2016. He is currently the CEO and director of US OTC Listed company Seatech Ventures Corp (OTC: SEAV).
CS is also involved in the regional trade bodies and actively involved in many NGOs such as SME Association of Malaysia (National Vice President), Malaysia Cross Border e-Commerce Association (National President), The Chinese Chamber of Commerce & Industry of Kuala Lumpur & Selangor (Council Member), The National Tech Association of Malaysia (Past Chairman/Advisor), etc. Due to his vast experiences and extensive links with business leaders in the greater China and Asia Pacific region, he is currently appointed as Deputy Chairman of IR4.0 & the Technology Committee of Malaysia-China Business Council and committee members in various government ministries and agencies.
